Everything happens for a reason

Well, after a pretty painful two months of job hunting I had an ephiany last week. "Why am I going crazy when I can easily go back to being a nanny?" After a break down that night about how I'd be letting my flatmate down, and was dissappointed because I'd wanted to try something new.... I decided to go for it. Whatever happened would happen. That night I was already talking to 4 different families. One was from outer Sydney and sounded great. Another was from outer Melb and sounded great. I'd met the dad the next day. Then he had to cancel another meeting and I started to stress. After his not returning an email, I knew something was amiss. Seriously, at least let me know you've found someone else, not that big a deal, except I had put everyone else in a 'hold' status until I could talk to him more. In the end, I'd realized he was the type of family that I've always said I'd never work for/live with. I don't want to raise someones kids and run a house...if I did, I'd have my own family! After realizing the other two families weren't a good fit, I was going to take the great sounding family in Sydney. I was a little bummed to not get to stay in Melb (which is why I was keen on the other one - even if it may have not been the best fit) as I'd really wanted to come here. But, I figured, everything happens for a reason. I had told them I couldn't talk over the weekend, cuz I wanted to enjoy the last weekend hanging with the flatmate. Turns out another family messaged me and I went out and met them on Queens birthday Monday. My only thing going into meeting this family was that it was short term and that'd only help me through end of August.

Turns out, doesn't matter. They are a great family. The dad is Swiss and they have just moved here 9 months ago. The mom is from WA so its a new adventure for them. The two girls are 3 and 5 so similiar to the girls in London. And its such a fun age! I realized that a short gig would be perfect! It gives me an option to travel with my friend when he comes in Sept and the mom is going to be looking for another contract so its a possibility to stay on. Either way, I can stay there for awhile after August.

I'm so glad about the dad in that one family putting me off because I would've accepted the Sydney family and I so didn't want to have to leave Melb. So, now I'll live in outer Melb but I can continue to make friends and get to hang out with Auria... who is the bomb. I'm just bummed I don't get to be flatmates with her.

I've also got another family moving into my room next week, so I only have to cover a one week gap, which is pretty exciting!

All in all. I think everything happens for a reason. I know I'm going to love living with this family (the mom is even a vegetarian!!) and that I made the right choice! Yay!

Time travel

Skipping ahead a few blogless months brings me to May! Seeing as I've been gone from Wellington for 2 months, I won't backdate about my life. (I know my mom would like it though). Maybe when I actually think about pictures again I'll do some short captions with pics? Well, maybe I'll recap.

*I had the best last month in Wellington. Enjoyed the sunshine and friends and lived up every moment of Feb! I left the 25th and headed to the Islands where I spent a month in Fiji/Samoa. Went back and got my stuff and moved to Melbourne on 1 April. I went to Sydney to visit KC and his crew for a week. Then got the best surprise when my best friend decided to head to Aussie for a week. Spent my birthday with her. Then back to reality.

*The computer is officially dead. After having issues since Mar 07, its making the worlds worst sound. I refuse to put more money to the piece of crap! I will suffice on internet cafes until I can save enough to get a "cheap" apple.

*After some painful searching, I've finally found a flat. I'm moving in with Auria, who is a 35 year old New Yorker, I met through one of the Couch surfing hosts we both stayed with. We move in Thursday, the 7th of May. Its unfurnished though, so for awhile we won't have much!

*I temped for 3 days before leaving to visit with Sac town folks and am hoping to get some more temp work ASAP. Also, looking to apply anywhere and everywhere. Literally, I'll work and McDonalds, I don't care. I can't expect to take jobs from all the Aussies who are hurting during this time. And anything will pay the bills.. so I'm gonna just go with whatever.

*I've made a couple friends here in Melbourne... and always on the look out for more. I think that will be heaps easier once I'm settled in the flat.

Uhh.. I could go on and on.. but don't want to be too boring, so i'll wait until I have some pictures before I update more.
